Requisition Number: 186995 Job Objective The HR Generalist position serves as the "Face of HR" to our associates and managers and acts as a human resources generalist within assigned facilities. In addition to ensuring compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations, this position is responsible for the execution of HR initiatives at the facility level, investigating and resolving associate complaints and conflicts, and the administration of collective bargaining agreements. This position is also responsible for building employee relations capability and enabling management effectiveness through the execution of proactive employee relations initatives and the delivery of targeted training programs. Job Responsibilities Execution of HR Initiatives: (40%) • Implement and execute performance management programs and procedures, including but not limited to performance appraisals and performance improvement plans • Ensures local compliance with execution of Company and Business Unit Employee Communication initiatives (i.e., change methodology) • Partner with the Talent Acquisition team to identify staffing requirements needed to meet the goals and objectives of the organization • Implement and execute affirmative action plans and participate in local outreach activities to promote the hiring and retention of a qualified and diverse workforce • Participate in collective bargaining activities, including contract administration, grievance responses, arbitration preparation, negotiation preparation, and strike contingency planning • Partner with counsel to prepare for and when necessary attend mediations, arbitrations, and other court proceedings • Implement and execute proactive employee relations initiatives, such as Listening Sessions and Town Hall Meetings • Communicate and ensure understanding by associates of laws, regulations and organizational policies and answer questions by managers and employees as needed • Communicate compensation and benefits plans and policies to associates • Implement and execute proactive positive employee relations initiatives and respond to union organizing activity • Implement and execute other initatives as directed by manager or required by company Investigation and Compliance: (40%) • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations • Investigate and resolve associate complaints, issues and concerns regarding employment practices orginating from various sources, including but not limited to grievances, Ethics & Compliance hotline calls, Solutions complaints, lawsuits, and complaints filed with federal, state and local agencies • Administer work rules and monitor their application and enforcement to ensure fairness and consistency • Execute and monitor grievance and disciplinary policies and procedures to ensure fairness and consistency • Partner with inside and outside legal counsel to respond to and defend lawsuits and complaints filed with outside agencies Building Capability: (20%) • Implement and execute employee relations programs / practices that create a positive organizational culture and enable management effectiveness • Promote, monitor and measure the effectiveness of employee relations activities • Participate in the selection process, i.e., interviews, for people management positions • Cultivate leadership and ethical values in self and others through modeling and coaching • Conduct needs analyses to identify and establish priorities regarding employee relations and human resource development activities • Facilitate, parcticipate in and develop action plans arising out of the company's succession planning process, i.e., TDC • Implement and facilitate training programs (face-to-face, or computer based training) as required Job Requirements REQUIRED • Bachelor's Degree • Minimum of three (3) years of exempt-level human resources experience or equivalent managerial experience PREFERRED • Human Resources or related degree • Five (5) or more years of exempt-level human resources experience • Previous consumer products experience • Previous manufacturing or distribution experience • Previous supervisory experience • Previous union avoidance experience • Previous experience working in a unionized environment • PHR / SPHR Certification
