Description
We maintain combat equipment for the United States Marine Corps as part of the Maritime Prepositioning Ships Program (MPS). We are responsible for nearly 56% of the ground combat vehicles and support equipment the USMC would use in a contigency operation. The MPS Program has a fleet of 16 merchant ships prepositioned around the world which contain the combat equipment. Living and working on board each ship is a team of 4 Mechanics and 1 Supervisor. The ships are assigned to one of three squadrons: Europe-Mediterranean (MPS-1), Diego Garcia-Indian Ocean (MPS-2), and Guam-Saipan (MPS-3).
Responsibilities:
· Oversees and directs MPF Shipboard Maintenance activities within entire squadron to ensure the continuous maintenance and repair of vehicles, and equipment including exercising of equipment.
· Develops and maintains a strong, effective relationship with the customer, acting as primary interface between the Company and all shipboard employees.
· Ensure compliance of all contractual matters for respective squadron.
· Serves as the Ship Supervisor on assigned vessel.
· Performs administrative and management responsibilities to ensure an overall efficient operation.
· Provides technical guidance/assistance and makes decisions where guidelines are not available.
· Performs and coordinates the MIMMS/SASSY requirements.
· Ensures MCMC functions are uniform and standardized within squadron.
· Evaluates equipment performance and prepares reports including recommendations as required.
· Trains personnel on equipment operations and maintenance and ensures employees adhere to all safety requirements, procedures, and policies.
· Collects and consolidates all requests for data and ensures timely submission of reports.
· Exercises equipment and prepares documents as required.
· Ensures all requirements concerning Statement of Work (SOW) obligations are performed aboard assigned vessel.
Qualifications
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
· AA degree and/or course work toward a BS degree in mechanical engineering or other related discipline.
· In lieu of a degree, a combination of college credits, other formalized training or education, and directly related work experience may be considered.
· Eight (8) years of directly related work experience in a shipboard maintenance/logistic environment.
· Three (3) years experience in a supervisory capacity.
· U. S. Citizen
· Must have valid passport at all times.
· Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance.
· Must possess a valid driver's license.
· Must pass a comprehensive physical examination (Military Sealift Command Standards) drug screening, and detailed background investigation.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS / INFORMATION:
· Skilled in at least one of the following areas: ordnance, engineering, and/or motor transport.
· Completion of a Marine Corps Intermediate Maintenance Course, or equivalent.
· Completion of the Marine Corps Integrated Maintenance Management (MIMMS) Course.
· Working knowledge of general maintenance procedures for military tactical equipment and supplies.
· Strong written and oral communication skills.
· Working knowledge of MIMMS.
· Diplomas, certificates, and certifications are required to verify qualifications.
· Must have chronological resume and DD214.
· Ability to comply with established methods, quality standards, and time schedules applicable to this position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Preference for applicants who formerly held one of the following Marine Corps or other service equivalent Military Occupational Specializations - 0411, 1310, 1349, 2110, 2120, 2149, 2181, 3002, 3043, 3510, or 3529.
