Description
Job Summary:
Delivers technology system projects, manages risk mitigation, and assesses critical paths and dependencies as it relates to Information Technology (IT) projects managed. Project Manager for Database Services manages projects related to the mainframe database environment. Manages both strategice initiatives and on-going maintenance activities.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities:
· Plan, coordinate, and track the project activities for initiatives of assigned customer groups. Manage small, medium, and large projects. Assist in planning and organizing resources from across all Technology areas to achieve Project objectives. Establish procedures and processes for project activities.
· Create, monitor and maintain projects in project management software including managing project plan tasking and assignments. Work closely with Finance and the Program Management Office (PMO) to maintain data accuracy in corporate financial software.
· Guide the team through all phases of the project life cycle. Supervise and direct activities as required ensuring successful project implementation.
· Owns accountability and status of project budgets and timelines with Technology management and business partners. Contribute to all yearly budgeting and monthly forecasting processes.
· Coordinate the activities of the project team with other departments, business partners, and vendors. Ensure adherence to CSX standards and review project deliverables.
· Manage project reporting and issue processes. Manage project deliveries including risk mitigation, assessing critical paths and dependencies, and measurement of milestones.
· Manage the maintenance and support of one or more existing systems. Responsibilities include service level agreement (SLA) compliance, budget compliance, maintaining issues list and issue priorities, assigning tasks, and regular status meetings with business partners.
· Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelors degree required with either more than 5 years of experience managing or leading IT projects or more than 5 years of supervisory experience

Equivalent Qualifications:
· Associates degree required in Information Systems/Technology, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering with either more than 7 years of experience managing or leading IT projects or more than 5 years of supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications:
· Bachelors degree in Information Systems/Technology, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering
· More than 5 years of experience managing or leading Transportation/Logistics/Rail Operations IT projects
· Experience with projects relevant to the focus of this position
· Certifications/Licenses: Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)

Knowledge and Skills:
· Knowledge of project management methods
· Knowledge of system development life cycles and methodologies
· Written and oral communications skills to communicate with all levels in the organization efficiently and effectively as well as creating clear visual presentations for business and upper management
· Collaborative and coaching skills
· Project management software skills
· Microsoft Office skills
· Contract and vendor management skills
· Knowledge of Information Technology (IT) Operations

Job Requirements:
· Work hours may vary in length and schedule. Work hours may include a nonstandard workweek and various shift work.
· 5% travel required.
· Work hours may include on call 7 days a week, 24 hours per day, with extended periods of time away from home.
· May be required to travel to Business Continuity site in support of real or test Disaster Recovery exercises.
· The applicant selected for this position must successfully complete a background check and drug test. Passing results must be received prior to start date in new position.
